Historical Organization in Modern Society

One of the most common questions I get asked as the director of the YWCO is "What exactly is the YWCO? What do you do?"

When I first started here a little over a year ago, I wasn't quite sure how to answer that question. Now a year later and after walking through several planning meetings discussing our goals and purpose, I can clearly and confidently say that we are here to serve the community. And we do this in many ways. Our mission is to ultimately empower women of all ages by enrichment through our classes and programs that are offered here.

Our vision is that the Y would be a gathering place as well as offer high quality classes and programs at a low cost or free to our community. One of the ways we are able to do this is through our membership program. You can become a member of the Y for a minimal cost of $25 a year. Your contribution helps us maintain this historical building, create opportunities to foster friendships, enrich minds through our events and programs.

The YWCO is a non profit organization and agency of United Way of the Pinebelt Region. We are thankful for our community in downtown Laurel as well as our volunteers and patrons from outlying counties.
