Celebrate America

For several years the YWCO has hosted our Celebrate America luncheon the last week of June. This is a program that honors our men and women in service past and present. We would love for you to come celebrate with us on Thursday June, 28th at 11:30am. This year's program will include a a delicious lunch, a community children's choir, and guest speaker Teddy Reed. Lunch will be prepared by High Five Eats (Roderick Hollins) and includes BBQ chicken, potato salad, baked beans, rolls, tea, and dessert.

This year we will have Commander Teddy Reed as our guest speaker. Reed is currently a Coast Guard Reservist assigned as the Law Enforcement Department Head at Coast Guard Sector Houston/Galveston.

Prior to this assignment, he was the Coast Guard Emergency Operations Center Liaison for the State of Mississippi, State of Alabama and 9 counties in the panhandle of Florida. Commander Reed’s most memorable assignments have been a Port Security Unit in Mississippi which protected transiting high valued assets, a Search and Rescue Station in Cortez, Florida and the Coast Guard Cutter Shearwater in Key West, Florida where his cutter’s mission was drug operations in the Caribbean. He has completed 2 tours in the Middle East and is an active member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 3036 in Hattiesburg, MS. He has had the wonderful privilege of being married to Eliza Degraff Reed of Key West for 30 years and has two children, Shelby Reed Winpigler and Anna Reed.

Cost of luncheon is $10 and tickets are available at the Y or from any board member.
